This was me trying to copy one of the pages of the Book of Kells: the four Evangelists. It's probably the most famous folio of this manuscript, which is located in Trinity College, Dublin. It is also known as the Book of Columba, and that is one of the reasons why I first became so interested in it.
My grandmother's maiden name is "Coleman", and looking up that surname for some family tree making, I found that it might have had its origins in StColumba, a lad who went to Ireland more less the same time as StPatrick, and tried to bring Christianity to the Celts.

This is Matthew, represented as man.

This is Mark, as a lion. This would be the hardest one to draw... and to paint.

This is Luke, as an ox. In a quite odd posture.

And this is my favourite, John, the eagle.
they all look as if they were drawn by a 10 year-old child, but I'm doing my best here... LOL
I painted them all with watercolours, which maybe is the reason why it's taking me so much time. I fear the time when I get to the Celtic knots...
